About
Originally from the South Plains of Texas, soprano Nicole Keeling is making her mark as an emerging artist in operatic and concert work. Upcoming engagements include Tatiana in Eugene Onegin with Opera in the Heights and the Soprano Soloist in Poulenc’s Gloria with University of Arkansas Little Rock. She was most recently seen as Contessa (Le nozze di Figaro) with Opera in the Heights and covered Anne Trulove in The Rake’s Progress with Lakes Area Music Festival. Her repertoire also includes the title role of Suor Angelica, Alice Ford (Falstaff), Mimi (La bohème), Madame Lidoine (Dialogues of the Carmelites), Lady Billows (Albert Herring), the Witch (Hansel and Gretel), and Yum-Yum (The Mikado). She has appeared in concert with Big Spring Symphony, Amarillo Opera, and Michigan Opera Theater.
This season Nicole takes part in the George London Foundation Competition, Lewisville Lake Symphony International Competition, and was a finalist in the John Alexander National Voice Competition, and semi-finalist in the Camerata Bardi International Vocal Competition. Previously, Nicole received First Prize in the Benton-Schmidt Competition, Vocal Artistry Art Song Competition, and the OU School of Music’s Concerto Competition which culminated in a concert of Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder with the OU Symphony Orchestra.
She has been an apprentice with Opera Colorado, Utah Festival Opera, Lakes Area Music Festival, Opera Breve, the San Miguel Institute of Bel Canto, and spent a summer studying under the tutelage of Marilyn Horne at Music Academy of the West.
